I apologize for not writing in so long–an incredible amount of Christmas celebrations, despedidas (good byes) and birthday celebrations have kept me very busy. This December is certainly one to remember! / Disculpas por no haber escrito en tanto tiempo–una cantidad increíble de celebraciones navideñas, despedidas y celebraciones de cumpleaños me han mantenido muy ocupada. ¡Este diciembre es definitivamente uno a recordar! 

Due to a family situation, I will be leaving Peru eight days earlier than planned to be with my family, something which is bitter-sweet, but necessary nonetheless. My mind and heart are being torn in many directions, but I cannot help but feel very well acompañada (accompanied) and loved by the many amazing individuals I have met over the past five and half months. I also have an overwhelming feeling that my time in this City of Friendship will not be over come Thursday.

Dado a una situación en mi familia, estaré saliendo del Perú ocho días antes de lo previsto para estar con mi familia, algo que es ‘agridulce’, pero necesario aún así. Mi mente y mi corazón están siendo jalados en muchas direcciones, pero no puedo evitar de sentirme muy bien acompañada y querida por l@s much@s individu@s que he conocido durante los últimos cinco meses y medio. También tengo un sentimiento incontenible que mi tiempo en esta Ciudad de la Amistad no será terminado cuando llega el jueves. 

Below are a few moments of many over the past two weeks. I look forward to sharing with you my reflections on my time here in Chiclayo, Peru once back home, from a new perspective. And of course, there will be new adventures to share when I am back working at Chalice. I wish you all the best for the New Year, less than three hours away here on the Pacific coast of South America. May 2014 be full of love, peace, smiles and laughs, hugs, friendship, volunteer work, honesty, good music and books, colour, opportunities, success and hope for you and your loved ones, wherever your paths take you.

A continuación están algunos momentos de las dos últimas semanas. Tengo muchas ganas de compartir contigo mis reflexiones sobre mi tiempo aquí en Chiclayo, Perú ya cuando esté en casa, desde una perspectiva nueva. Y por supuesto, habrán nuevas aventuras para compartir cuando esté de nuevo trabajando en Chalice. Te deseo todo lo mejor para el Nuevo Año, que está a menos de tres horas aquí en la costa de América del Sur. Que el 2014 sea lleno de amor, paz, sonrisas y risas, abrazos, amistad, trabajo voluntario, honestidad, buena música y buenos libros, color, oportunidades, éxito y esperanza para tí y tus seres queridos, en donde sea que sus caminos se les lleven.

The last time I played with singer-songwriter/guitarist Zack (here in the Peace Corps) and Xhio (a Chiclayan cajón player, to my right). These great musicians and I shared many memorable musical moments in our mini-band beginning in October (and even managed to record a five-track CD). This was after we played at a Christmas ‘chocolatada‘ (Peruvian Christmas party) for children with disabilities, such as Michael.
La última vez que toqué con cantautor y guitarrista Zack (aquí en el Cuerpo de Paz de E.E.U.U.) y Xhio (una chiclayana que toca el cajón, a mi derecha). Esos excelentes músicos y yo compartimos muchos momentos musicales memorables en nuestra pequeña banda empezando en octubre (y hasta grabamos un disco de cinco canciones). Esto fue después de tocar en una ‘chocolatada’ (fiesta peruana navideña) para niñ@s con discapacidades, como Michael. 🙂
